The renowned publisher has appointed a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the development team at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as Project Ethos.
Management Transition Comes After Lukewarm Feedback
The new appointee takes on the leadership position at 31st Union following the dismissal of previous head Michael Condrey, who was reportedly let go due to Project Ethos' underwhelming initial reveal last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure updated team members about this organizational change through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the necessity for a clearer vision.
The president stated that the team is now reimagining the project with a revised approach, aiming to better meet player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Recruitment
The news follows a similar step taken by the publisher in the summer, when they recruited Rod Fergusson from Blizzard to assist with the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.

Brinkman presently holds the role of executive producer and production lead at the renowned studio for their flagship title. Brinkman earlier was employed at Treyarch and Activision in various production roles on the iconic franchise games, and, earlier in his career, had periods at other industry leaders.

The upcoming game was revealed in last year together with a community playtest. At the time, 31st Union presented the game as a "no-cost, third-person perspective action-packed experience and an exciting evolution on the style."
